Neo-Nazi attack on our store
During the night from Friday, November 8, to Saturday, the store of the Johannesplatz Solidarisch neighborhood union, which had only opened in July, was attacked. The door and the large shop window were destroyed at around midnight, presumably with a hammer. The volunteers who work there believe the attack was politically motivated, as young adults had already disrupted the open meeting in the early evening with verbal abuse and neo-Nazi slogans, and then spat on the window. The attacks were reported to the police. Anyone who witnessed anything is asked to report it to the police.
Johannesplatz Solidarisch is an independent social and political initiative that supports people in the neighborhood—for example, with problems involving the job center, the immigration office, the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF), or landlords. They work together to find solutions through counseling services, and the open meeting place provides a space for people to exchange ideas, network, and take action together. The goal is to stand in solidarity against injustice and create better living conditions.
An attack on this initiative is an attack on the neighborhood. A strong, united stand against the ever-growing fascist threat must be a concern for all of us!
“Of course, our activities will continue,” says a member of Johannesplatz Solidarisch. We look forward to seeing you there.
